Everyone knows that physical fitness and exercise is good for them, but exactly why is it so important and beneficial? First of all, studies have shown that living an active lifestyle will make it more likely that you will live a longer life, and one that is more healthy in general. Those who regularly exercise have lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, less chance of developing heart disease, diabetes and many different kinds of cancer. It isn’t just about being lean. It is about being fit as well which provides such benefits to one’s overall health. However, by exercising people are more likely to keep their weight under control.
To control weight through diet alone is not the only way, in fact you may not be able to keep the fat off this way, and you may lose a bit of muscle mass in the process. Those who exercise on a regular basis will in general just have more energy, more stamina, and more strength. Bone will remain stronger as one ages in those who are physically active. Around the age of thirty five, men and women both begin to lose bone mass. In some cases, strength training will not only stop this from occurring, but can reverse any damage that may have been done.
This does not even need to be a hardcore weights workout or a marathon, this can happen by simply starting a walking regime a couple of times a week. Just as your body will stay strong, so to will your mind. This is one of the best things as a matter of fact, for improving brain functions and has been shown to reduce cases of Alzheimer’s and dementia as one ages. And those with back problems may not feel like exercising, but by strengthening the core abdominal muscles and the muscles surrounding the lower back, will have significant effects. Overall health is what is guaranteed when physical fitness is a part of one’s daily routine and part of their life.
